Information on Treetops Treetops
was founded in 1991 by Sigle (Sheila) Skeries as an outstanding
full service equestrian centre with a special interest in
equine rehabilitation. Since 1995 Treetops has focused solely
on equine and canine rehabilitation while also providing
exceptional educational programs in the field of complementary
therapies.
Treetops was the first facility in North America to provide
a fully integrated rehabilitation facility providing the very
best in complementary therapies and allopathic veterinary medicine
in order to provide a holistic approach to animal health promotion
and convalescent care. Treetops continues to be the standard
by which all other animal rehabilitation facilities and educational
programs aspire. In fact many of today’s animal rehabilitation
specialists took their training and began their careers at
Treetops. Treetops has been featured in Equus, Practical Horseman,
Horse Sport, Horse Care, Horse Illustrated, Dogs Dogs Dogs,
Dogs in Canada, The Globe and Mail, The Toronto Star, The New
VR Television and City TV’s Breakfast Television. Treetops
head office is located in Alliston, Ontario, Canada to serve
our clients in Canada. We have partnered with E-Training For
Dogs based in Loveland, Colorado, USA to provide comprehensive
online training for our international students.
Rehabilitation
Services
Treetops
offers personalized services in Swedish massage and herbal
remedies for horses and companion animals. Treetops works closely
with health care professionals, complementary therapy practitioners
and allopathic veterinarians to provide a holistic approach
to health promotion and rehabilitation. Our quiet, private
farm with lush rolling pasture is an ideal environment for
injured and ill horses to convalesce. Their home away from
home includes oversized stalls suitable for horses on stall
rest, an outdoor “stall” which allows horses on
stall rest a change of scenery, hydrotherapy facilities and
equipment. We also have a large sand ring with cavalleti patterns
and low impact, non skid canine agility equipment to assist
all of our animal clients with physical therapy exercises as
part of a comprehensive rehabilitation program. Although these
facilities are available for “in house” rehabilitation
the vast majority of our clients make use of services in an “outcall” format.
In addition to the treatments provided by Treetops practitioners
we educate the owners on basic massage techniques and physical
exercises to ensure that the rehabilitation program progresses
smoothly. Our animal clients range from the much loved family
pet to champion equines and canines. We have also had the honour
of working with some unusual clients from Hamsters to a Champion
Japanese Black Angus bull.
Courses
Treetops established its educational programs in 2000 and offers
a wide variety of courses and workshops in complementary
therapies for horses and companion animals. We offer an 8
hour workshop on herbal and aromatherapy remedies for companion
animals and horses, a 12 hour certification course in pet
first aid and a comprehensive 250 hour certification program
in animal massage. Our courses are taught at our Alliston,
Ontario location. Some courses are also available through
home study. Live online training is available through www.e-trainingfordogs.com.
