Canines who benefit from massage

INJURY PREVENTION

Massage helps to keep soft tissue in top working condition, allows for early detection of soft tissue injury and minimizes layoff or rehabilitation time in the event of injury. Preventative therapy is strongly recommended for the hard working canines involved in schutzhund, police work, hunting, field trials, tracking, agility, obedience, and showing. Handlers will notice improved soundness, strength, agility and speed.

PALLIATIVE CARE

Massage is beneficial for senior dogs especially those suffering from Osteoarthritis and Spondylitis. Improved circulation increases body warmth, muscle tone and contractility.

REHABILITATION

Massage helps in the healing process often shortening the time required for soft tissue injury rehabilitation. Massage will make a significant improvement in the quality of healing seen after these common injuries or surgeries: strain, sprain or torn muscles, tendons or ligaments, post op cruciate ligament repair, post op hip replacement, chronic lameness, post trauma. For broken bones massage provides valuable supportive therapy for the physical compensation that will occur as a result of the fracture.
